The 3 Best Places for an NC Mountain Getaway This Summer

Do you know what the best part of living in North Carolina is? We truly have it all. On the coast you’ll find plenty of gorgeous beaches, and when you look westward you’ll discover beautiful mountain ranges. Not to mention, we have plenty of vibrant cities and dense metropolitan areas.

Today, however, we’re going to focus on one of our favorite parts of the state: the NC mountains. Here are three excellent spots for a vacation getaway in the mountains of North Carolina.

Blowing Rock

For eclectic small-town charm in an unbelievably beautiful setting, look no further than the beloved town of Blowing Rock. Known for its unique, vintage attractions, delicious restaurants, and famous ice cream shop, Blowing Rock is the perfect place for an idyllic weekend getaway.

While you’re here, be sure to visit the Blue Ridge Parkways for breathtaking views and some of the best hiking you’ll ever experience! The community is surrounded by a huge network of connected trails and pathways, so this is a great way to get your steps in.

If arts and culture are more your speed, we recommend checking out the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum. Explore the exhibits and stop in for one of their many popular events!

Travel to Chimney Rock for an unforgettable vacation spent along the beautiful mountain ranges. Stop for a picture at the iconic Vista Rock and marvel in the breathtaking views below.

Choose from a number of different hiking trails, all catered to different skill levels, and try to find your way to the bottom of the Hickory Nut Falls. Dip your toes in the cool water and take a breather at one of Chimney Rock’s most refreshing natural spots.

Lake Lure

Want to see where Johnny and Baby practiced the famous lift scene in Dirty Dancing? Journey on over to Lake Lure, North Carolina and prepare to have the time of your life!

Personally, we think its the best man-made lake in the country. Take a tranquil stroll along the boardwalk and stop to smell the flowers across the Flowering Bridge. Cool off by taking a dip in the lake, or spend time reading your favorite summer novel on the shore.

Afterwards, visit the Lake Lure Golf Club for a quick round, the Adventure Company for kayaking and aquatic recreation, or Buffalo Creek Park for some amazing hiking and biking.

Enjoy a Year-Round Getaway Right Here in Clayton

After a wonderful vacation, it’s nice to come home. When you live in the Walk at East Village, every day feels like its own mini vacation. That’s because this active-adult community comes with resort-style amenities and is in a one-of-a-kind location near Downtown Clayton.
