Stock up on Fresh and Local Produce at the Clayton Farmers’ Market!

Here in Clayton, we’re lucky to have the perfect blend of rural and city living. The hustle and bustle of Downtown Raleigh is just minutes away, but the wide-open green space and farmland surrounding Clayton makes it all feel worlds away.

Speaking of all that farmland, it also means that we have the unique opportunity to directly support our local farmers—and enjoy fresh and local produce and wares! The Clayton Farmers’ Market is home to tons of vendors from around the area, and it’s the perfect place to stock up on a few of your grocery needs.

Check out the details on the market, and plan your visit before the end of the season!

About the Market

Located on 348 E. Main Street (also known as Home Square), the outdoor market has been running for just over ten years. All of the market’s vendors live within 100 miles of Clayton, and most of the food was made within 50 miles—so when we say local, we mean it!

You won’t find any vendors reselling outsourced products, either—the market mandates that all sellers must make their own products!

The Season

An outdoor farmers' market.

Unlike many other small-town farmers’ markets, the Clayton Farmers’ Market is open pretty much year-round. The regular season—which starts in April and runs through October—is almost over, but the winter season picks right back up from November to March!

In addition to the farmers’ market, there’s also a holiday market that runs from November to December, perfect for picking up some locally made gifts!

The Vendors

As far as vendors go, you can expect a little bit of everything. Potted plants, fresh fruits and veggies (think: apples, peppers, berries, grapes, lettuce, tomatoes, and more!), homemade bread, local wine, honey, meat, jewelry, and so much more. You can also expect a few food trucks to swing by every now and then, serving up everything from coffee and waffles to barbecue goodness.

No matter what you’re looking, you’re sure to find something to fill up your pantry!
