Craving a Warm Drink? Try These Cozy Clayton Coffee Shops

Pumpkin spice, maple pecan, salted caramel, peppermint mocha—fall and winter are arguably the best times of the year for seasonal coffee flavors. While you could brew your own at home, there are plenty of local coffee shops that can whip up one of the best cups of joe you’ve ever had!

If you’re looking for a new spot to warm up and fuel up, check out a few of our favorite coffee shops around the Clayton area.

Boulevard West

Located in Downtown Clayton, Boulevard West is one of the best new businesses in town and the epitome of small-town charm. On the menu, there’s a variety of coffee drinks and teas, as well as food like sandwiches, bagels, and muffins—we recommend trying the breakfast sandwich and a latte!

You’ll also find plenty of seating, including bar stools, tables, couches, and an expansive outdoor patio. Whether you’re sitting down to do some work or meeting up to chat with friends, it’s the perfect place to relax for a while.

Clayton Bakery & Cafe

Family-owned and operated, the Clayton Bakery & Cafe has been around for almost 15 years, serving up hand-crafted baked goods and delicious warm drinks—not to mention a tasty breakfast and lunch menu!

While their coffee is great, the bakery items and pastries are maybe the biggest highlight of the shop. Coconut cake, warm cookies, caramel mini cheesecake, cinnamon rolls…we could go on and on. If you want to indulge your sweet tooth alongside your cup of joe, this is the place to go!

9Bar Coffeehouse

Located in Riverwood Athletic Club, 9Bar Coffeehouse takes its coffee seriously. The shop gets its name from the pressure level that it takes to compress a “puck” of coffee grounds during the espresso making process—9 bars of pressure creates the perfect cup.

Almost all of their menu items are made with locally sourced goods, including coffee beans from Larry’s Coffee, bagels from Brown Bag Bagels, and muffins from Bourbon N’ Sweets. They also have beer and wine, as well as Nitro Cold Brew—which is worth a try if you’ve never had it!

Ugly Mug Bean & Brew

Although Ugly Mug is quick trip outside of Clayton in nearby Garner, it’s well-worth the drive. Another family-owned and operated joint, Ugly Mug offers hot and iced coffee drinks, as well as a large food menu.

One thing that sets Ugly Mug apart from competition? Their specialty flavors! Our favorites are the Alchemist (white chocolate, English toffee, and raspberry), the White Snickers (white chocolate, hazelnut, caramel), and the Dirty Chaister (Chai tea and espresso). There are tons of other options, so browse the menu before you stop by!
