Johnston County has both public and private venues to choose from. Whether you’re wanting a leisurely day on the greens or a fierce competition between buddies, you aren’t far from the perfect golf course when you live at The Walk. Here are a few of Johnston County’s must-play courses.
Country Club of Johnston County
A classic of Johnston County, the County Club of Johnston County opened in 1967. The 18-hole, 6,630-yard course is known for its groomed Bermuda grass fairways and greens. Seniors play discounted at this public venue on weekdays for $25—and if you’re just deciding to pick up the game to begin your retirement, the County Club offers golf lessons!
Cardinal Country Club
Another public 18-hole course, Cardinal Country Club is located in Selma. Its golf course was notably designed by architect John Nubin and features beautiful tree-lined fairways. Beware—this course’s many water hazards and burdensome bunkers may have you shooting over par.
The Neuse Golf Club
Located less than ten minutes down the road from The Walk, The Neuse Golf Club hits close to home for our residents. This semi-private club features an 18-hole championship golf course designed by John LaFoy. The course has earned many awards over the years, including being ranked in the top five golf courses in the state of North Carolina by Golf Digest.
Reedy Creek Golf Course
Reedy Creek Golf Course—a long-standing course located in Four Oaks—has been welcoming golf enthusiasts since 1988. Gene Hamm designed the picturesque course set against the backdrop of rolling farmland. Named a “Must Place to Play” in North Carolina by Golf Digest, Reedy Creek’s course will test your skills and provide you with the perfect day out!
