A blend of beautiful North Carolina weather, a host of community events, and a plethora of parks and recreational amenities make Clayton the ideal place to be during the summer. Whether you want to relax by the pool or get moving on a nearby walking and biking trail, you’re bound to make the most of your summer when you live at The Walk at East Village. Long summer days will fly by when you’re having fun with all these summer activities!
Free concerts, festivals, and so much more
Clayton may be a small town, but it knows how to hold its own when it comes to community events. Spend summer nights at Town Square—located on Main Street in the heart of Downtown Clayton—for outdoor concert series and movie nights under the stars. And if you’re feeling hungry, there are more food trucks and vendors at these events than you can imagine!
A true small-town staple, the Square to Square Independence Day Street Festival takes place annually and draws a massive crowd to the downtown streets. The festival kicks off with a bicycle parade, concludes with a fire truck drive down Main Street, and has a variety of activities in between.
Summer doesn’t mean you have to slow down
For those who want to stay active this summer, there are ample recreational activities in and around Clayton. The miles of trails throughout the community provide a safe place to exercise, including the Neuse River Greenway Trail. A favorite among residents, this 27.5-mile scenic trail is located just minutes from The Walk and is the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or upbeat bike ride.
The Walk’s bocce and pickleball courts serve as unique outlets to exercise while still having fun. Pickleball combines elements from badminton, tennis, and ping-pong to create a simple game that you can pick up quickly—but no worries if you’re an experienced player, we’ve seen this game get competitive, too!
But if you do want to slow down…
Having fun doesn’t always have to be fast-paced, which is why The Walk offers plenty of laid-back activities for residents who want to relax this summer. Spend the day with friends at one of Clayton’s local fishing spots or soak up some seclusion and cast a line by yourself. Need some stress relief? Our residents love working alongside one another in our community garden, all in the midst of fresh vegetables and flourishing flowers! And if golf is more your way to unwind, there are tons of golf courses within short drives to choose from.
Don’t forget about our on-site amenities
The Walk features resort-style amenities straight from your summer vacation dreams—and you only have to venture a few feet out your front door to access them. The famous Mountains to Seas Trail runs right past The Walk, where residents can watch the local wildlife. Plus, our community outdoor pool is frequented by our sunshine-loving residents. And we’ve got to warn you, you won’t be able to resist the smell of summertime cookouts from one of our many grilling stations!
